Greycourt. USA
Greycourt was built in 1918 to contain women and girls who committed serious crimes, and in 1935 it was renamed La Guardia Camp.
In 1934, during the struggle with the effects of the economic crisis, the New York authorities converted it into a camp for the poor. A peculiar farming colony was created, the inhabitants of which cultivated land or worked at nearby enterprises. At the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries, drug-addicted and mentally ill people were kept here.
In 2007, the inhabitants of the camp began to be resettled, and in 2008 it was closed. The abandoned women's prison has long been used by the homeless, although there are announcements on the sites that the areas are sold for commercial firms.

Kronstadt fortress. Russia
The military prison in Kronstadt is located in the building of the 4th barracks, which closes the northern wall of the fortress. The building was built in 1838, and initially it housed warehouses.
Later, the building was converted into a guardhouse, where the lower military ranks were serving their sentences for violating the military charter and crimes committed. The building was heated with stoves. There were both solitary and group cells for serving sentences.
