Salads, by themselves, no matter what they are, are very popular as a meal. Not a single celebration can do without them - salads decorate the table, delight even the most demanding people in food with a variety of tastes.
Olivier’s meat salad, named after its creator, cook Lucien Olivier, is considered the New Year’s bestseller in Russia, and you can understand why. It has an incomparable delicate taste, and is very nutritious due to its composition.
In this collection you will learn about most popular salads. Some of them may not be familiar to you, but you can take notes and try to cook.
10. Capercaillie nest
This salad has such a name because it is made in the form of a nest with eggs in the middle. A spectacular dish of Russian cuisine.
Ingredients: boiled chicken - 350 g; potatoes - 4-5; onion - 1; canned cucumbers - 250 g; boiled egg - 4; garlic - 1; oil, herbs, salt and mayonnaise - to taste.
Recipe: chop the onions, potatoes into thin strips. Boil the meat and finely chop it, mix with cucumbers. Grate the eggs, mix with chicken and cucumbers.
Fry the potatoes in a deep fryer (about 5 minutes), and then put them on a paper towel (so that the oil is absorbed into it). We divide the potatoes into 2 parts - mix one by adding it to the salad and leave the other.
We fill the dish with mayonnaise, mix, salt, and form a nest in the middle.
For beauty, we place quail eggs (pre-cooked) on top, you can sprinkle with fresh dill.
9. Monomakh hat
The Monomakh hat is a regal table decoration. The salad has an unusual shape - it is very tasty and elegant, which is just suitable for any holiday.
Ingredients:
- smoked chicken - 400 g;
- eggs - 3; beets - 1;
- potatoes - 4;
- hard cheese - 150 g;
- walnuts - 150 g;
- carrots - 2;
- pomegranate - 1;
- mayonnaise - 200 g.
Recipe: First, put the vegetables on the stove, and also cook the eggs. We cut the chicken into small pieces, three cheese on a grater. After that, we lay out all the products in different saucers.
We lay out the layers alternately (each layer needs to be seasoned with mayonnaise): potatoes, chicken, cheese, beets, eggs.
When the whole salad is collected, add a little mayonnaise on top, and give the salad a shape similar to a hat. Pomegranate and nuts are used as decoration.
8. Mimosa
There are many options for making a popular salad, but a classic cooking option will be indicated here.
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 3;
- canned fish - 1 can;
- carrots - 2-3;
- eggs - 4;
- onion - 1;
- mayonnaise, salt, pepper - to taste.
Recipe: cook all the indicated vegetables and eggs until ready. When the products are cooked, we cool them, and grate them, laying them on different plates. Finely chop the onion, and mash the canned fish with a fork.
We lay out the layers, following the sequence: (each greasing with a small amount of mayonnaise) potatoes, fish, onions, egg whites, carrots, lay the yolks on top of the salad.
7. Ladies
A light salad, which they gladly cook without a reason - just like a tasty snack.
Ingredients:
- pineapples (a canned jar is suitable) - 200 g;
- chicken breast - 300 g;
- garlic - 2;
- hard cheese - 60 g;
- mayonnaise, salt to taste.
Recipe: Cook the chicken, and then cut it (best in cubes). Cut pineapple and add to chicken.
Three cheese on a grater, add to pineapple and chicken, pepper, chop the garlic with a garlic squeezer and also add. Squeeze out mayonnaise in a bowl, mix everything well.
6. Vinaigrette
It is very easy to prepare, and not a single festive table can be imagined without it. There are different ways to make a salad, but here you will learn the classic recipe.
Ingredients:

We spread everything on a plate, cut cucumbers, onions, add to other ingredients, spread peas. Salt, pepper, and mix in the end.
5. Greek
Salad is prepared without difficulty, and has long been settled, both a festive and everyday dish in families. It is very spicy and original to taste.
Ingredients:
- tomato - 3;
- cucumber - 1;
- red onion - 1;
- sweet pepper - 2;
- soft cheese - 100 g;
- olives - 50 g;
- lemon - 1;

- oregano - half a teaspoon;
- salt to taste.
Recipe: prepare all the vegetables - rinse, peel. Cucumber can be cut into circles, and tomatoes - medium slices. Cut the pepper into thin strips, onion - as you wish. Cheese cut into small cubes.
What to do with olives - decide for yourself. You can add them whole, or you can cut them into halves.
We mix all the ingredients, and now we prepare the sauce - we mix oil, lemon, oregano, salt.
Mix and season with salad dressing. It is great as an appetizer for meat dishes.
4. Cole Slow
Cole Slow is a traditional American salad that includes cabbage. It is unusual for its dressing, which gives the salad a creamy taste.
Ingredients:
- head of cabbage - half;
- apple - 1;
- onion - 1;
- lemon juice;
- carrots - 2;
- salt, mayonnaise, pepper - to taste.
Recipe: cut the vegetables into strips - cabbage and carrots, and onions - in half rings. We remove seeds from apples, cut the peel and cut into thin strips.
Combine all components, then mix evenly. Top with lemon juice and stir again. Salt, pepper and add mayonnaise at the end.
For reference: it is not necessary to season the salad with mayonnaise, you can set the saucer with it separately on the table, and guests themselves will add the desired product in the right amount.

Ingredients:
- shrimp - 1 kg;
- potatoes - 5;
- fresh cucumbers - 3-4;
- carrots - 2;
- egg - 5;
- dill and green onions to taste;
- peas - 1 can;
- mayonnaise, black pepper - at its discretion;
- salt to taste.
Recipe: cook shrimp, also eggs and vegetables. We clean the shrimp, cut the cooled products, finely chop the eggs. Also cut cucumbers, onions.
We combine all the ingredients, add canned peas, season with mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and wait about 2 hours - the salad will infuse, and after that it can already be served on the table.
2. Herring under a fur coat
Herring under a fur coat is a classic, incredibly tasty salad that neither guests nor household will ever refuse. He is able to melt the heart of even the most capricious person in food!
Ingredients:
- potatoes - 3;
- herring - 2;
- carrots - 3;
- beets - 2-3;
- egg - 3-4;
- onion - 1;
- mayonnaise, salt to taste.
Recipe: First, cook the eggs until ready, do the same with vegetables.
We prepare herring - cut it, remove the insides, seeds, and cut it into small squares.
Three potatoes, eggs, carrots and beets on a grater (no matter which side - small or large), finely chop the onion.
After all the ingredients are ready, lay out the layers, and do not forget that everyone needs to be greased with mayonnaise: potatoes, herring, onions, eggs, carrots, and the beetroot completes the composition.
1. Caesar
It is difficult to call the famous salad from the Italian Caesar Cardini a classic, but people are more and more willing to cook it for the holidays. Try it and you!
Ingredients:
- hard cheese - 120 g;
- chicken fillet - 200 g;
- Beijing cabbage - 12 leaves;
- dried basil - 0.5 teaspoons;
- mayonnaise - half a glass;
- cherry tomato - 12;
- loaf or white bread - 4 slices;
- olive oil - 4 tbsp. spoons;
- lemon - 1; garlic - 3;
- black pepper to taste.
Recipe: cut the bread into small cubes, fry the chicken, and then cut it into pieces.
Grind the garlic (it should turn into a paste), mix with basil, mayonnaise and pepper. Add oil, as well as lemon juice to the resulting paste. Mix everything in a blender - and the salad dressing is ready.
On the bottom of the plate (salad bowl) we spread cabbage leaves (they can be replaced with lettuce). We spread bread, chicken, tomatoes on top. Pour the sauce, and rub the cheese on top. We do the same thing again (that is, create several layers).
For reference: Bread must be baked to make crackers. Sprinkle it with olive oil and put in the oven for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
